Atibaia is a small quiet city, about 60 km outside of Sao Paulo . Surrounded by beautiful countryside and with clean fresh air, this is a perfect location for yoga practice.

At Ashtanga Yoga Atibaia we are teaching the real ashtanga yoga system in the tradition of Sri K Pattabhi Jois, ( Mysore , India. ). The classes are mainly taught " mysore style" in which each student works at their own pace receiving individual instructions with hands on adjustments We also offer led classes and weekend workshops.

Ashtanga yoga is suitable for everyone, no matter what age or background. The foundation of this unique ancient style of yoga is asanas (postures) practiced in a precise order and in vinayasa flow which create heat in your body. Regular yoga practice enhances health, creates a strong and flexible body and mind which enables the student to get closer to who they really are. We can help on this journey with safe and correct instructions. We believe that a good teacher must have a profound yoga practice to be able to help the student in their personal development .

Sara is originally Swedish but has lived abroad, mainly in London , for more than ten years. In 1997 she discovered yoga and fell in love with the practice.

Her first main yoga teacher was Godfrey Devereux. She gave up her “normal life” to become an apprentice for eight months in his yoga retreat centre, practicing all aspects of yoga. Later she completed his teacher training and has since then been teaching yoga full time.

John Scott was the teacher who introduced her and made her strictly follow the ashtanga yoga path and soon after she became for many years a dedicated student of Hamish Hendry. Not only being a student she also assisted about three years for Hamish at the Ashtanga Yoga London, a great opportunity to become fully comfortable and experienced with hands on adjustments.
